Session 1.3
From Design to Delivery – Documenting a High-Rise Tower Effectively
Synopsis:
This session will present a case study of a high-rise residential tower, which focuses on documentation and modelling expectations required from a builder within the current industry.
You will learn how it affects BIM procedures and protocols required progressing through the design phases.
The session will also focus on lessons learnt documenting a tower from DD through to CD and the issues faced along the way.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to improve documentation standards and modelling of a high-rise tower.
2. Exploring what a builder requires and expects for BIM delivery in the current industry.
3. Analysing the Level Of Detail required from Developed Design through to sub-contractor input.
Body:
This course will present a case study of a high-rise residential tower currently under construction.
It will look at various aspects of how to model and document a tower efficiently on a complex project and what to expect in terms of BIM protocols, collaboration, and documentation requirements working through the design phases.
The builder required a high level of modelling and documentation to assist with communicating complex designs to subcontractors etc. so we will also focus on what deliverables the builder required and time management.
This course will focus on:
– Model setup & modelling standards: Linked files, groups, service model setup.
– How to guide: Keeping control of model integrity throughout the project.
– Modelling through the design phases: Level Of Detail required and when to adapt.
– Modelling Methods: Façade, Apartments, Structure.
– Co-ordination: Structural, services co-ordination, clash detection.
– Builder expectations and requirements of BIM in the current industry.
The design process of high-rise residential towers can be difficult for all involved. Learn how we have overcome this challenge and optimised modelling for speed of delivery.
This presentation will focus on ways of improving efficiency through modelling, documentation, co-ordination and also what we have learned through the process.
