Session 1.2
‘P’ Plate Parametrics
Synopsis: Computational design is a field with lots eye catching projects, but where do you start? How do you start to move geometry around inside your project using graphical scripting? This is a beginners class for people who want simple strategies for making Parametric Design work for their organisation.Learning Objectives: 1. How to change the direction of structural framing members using Dynamo
2. How to create a basic fascia truss using Dynamo
3. How to create a simple portal frame shed using DynamoBody: A lot of companies are using Dynamo or Grasshopper to automate repetitive tasks, however the use of Computational Design is still mainly found in high end facades and art projects.
Why arent houses being modelled parametrically? most house builders have limited range of options. Why arent the structural and environmental requirements for buildings being added to Building Models so they can adjust automatically during the project?. There is definitely a lot of scope for the use of parametric design to expand in the industry.
The best way to start is to start with small achievable steps. We will demonstrate how to:
Use Dynamo for simple truss creation, or to adjust existing framing
Use Dynamo to create parametric models for import into Space Gass at the preliminary design stages.
Use Dynamo to produce simple functional buildings in Revit
We will cover several simple dynamo scripts and then take a dynamo users look at Rhino Inside.
