Session 1.4
Yes, another ISO 19650 presentation, but this time it’s personal
Synopsis:
Love them or hate them, the ISO 19650 series of standards are now an integral part of how we do business. There is no doubt that they’re here to stay. But where did they come from, and why should you care? This is a unique opportunity to hear about the true rationale behind the standards and to pose your questions to one of the authors of the standards.
Learning Objectives:
1. To share the journey of how ISO 19650 became an internationally agreed series of standards.
2. To highlight how the ISO 19650 series are designed to overcome many of the barriers to working collaboratively.
3. To provide an opportunity to ask questions about the development and contents of the ISO 19650 series.
Body:
The ISO 19650 series are the internally agreed standards for the effective management and collaborative production of information when using building information modelling.
Many people think that they are something new, or a new way of working. Actually, they have been 20+ years in the making. They are a culmination of research, testing and continuous improvement.
As the author of ISO 19650-2 and co-author of its predecessor, PAS 1192-2, Paul will share his unique perspective on the standards development and why he thinks they are the best chance we have of overcoming the common barriers to adopting a collaborative approach to the production of information.
This session will be delivered in two parts. The first will be a short presentation from Paul on the above. The second will be an open discussion on all things ISO 19650.
Never one to shy away from a good debate, and known for talking candidly, Paul will open the floor to questions. Don’t miss this opportunity to ask that question that you’ve always wanted to ask or to hear some you may not have thought of.
