With the costs of reality capture dropping dramatically, new opportunities to leverage the technology are opening up every day. Once a one-and-done technology to facilitate the generation of as-builts; reality capture technology is evolving into a well-rounded tool that can benefit all phases of the design and construction process. So, while Scan-to-BIM is certainly not dead yet, reality capture can provide data-rich information into the entire life-cycle of the development of a digital twin, and help manage risk in the construction process along the way.
