Synopsis:

An opensource workflow can help achieve watertight models, which can be used for simulations or 3D printing. It helps to adopt many alternative techniques to further improve quality and efficiency. This presentation will focus on various practical implementations of the current tools’ capabilities as well as talk about their benefits and limitations.

Learning Objectives:

1. How to find, install and use TopologicBIM and SAM
2. Generate a watertight Building model (CellComplex, Analytical Model) that can be simulated or exported to Revit using Rhino.Inside Revit
3. Practical examples to understand the concept to allow further use in own daily workflow

Body:

“This is the session that will help you find out what the open source tools Topologic and SAM can do for you.
SAM and Topologic may help us to eliminate the frustrating modelling errors that previously exist in industry standard software’s. This allows us to fully embrace the opportunities, that computational analysis provides, and improve the design and operation of all projects.
In this live demo presentation, you will see the opensource’s potential and how to use it. This tool is powerful and offers many possibilities, that can be accessed from Grasshopper.

The features we will focus on will be:
-Learn about the background of SAM, TopologicBIM
– Understanding the structure.
-Installation
-Developing basic scripts and translating geometries
-Running basic scripts and making watertight models, which then can be used for simulation and 3D printing
-interaction between Rhino and Revit and LadybugTools – Honeybee
After the presentation, the user will have basic knowledge of TopologicBIM and SAM and have the capabilities of using this product at a basic level. They will be aware of how the open source tools can easily be customized and integrated to fit the user’s needs

This should presentation is a great start for anyone to wants to start their own journey working with fully customizable workflows!”
