Big Data for Big Projects, Using Information for Any Scale of Design
Synopsis:
Have you considered the data in your project? The average AEC project has gigabytes of data content that are usually untapped but can unleash a great deal of value if used properly. Learn what kind of data you have available to you and how it can be leveraged.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the Relevance of big data in the AEC industry.
2. Become knowledgeable in Industry wide data classification standards and trends How to acquire and study that data for your project to bring value to the owner.
3. Learn about the sources of data in our projects from models to operations data and how that can be translated to usable information to gain valuable insights.
4. Understand accepted industry classifications, trends in data for the AEC community globally and examples of how to implement your own data collection.
Body:
Learn about Industry wide data classification standards and trends How to acquire and study that data for your project to bring value to the owner. This includes Sources of data in our projects from models to operations data and how that can be translated to usable information to gain valuable insights. Understand the types of data, their accepted industry classifications, trends in data for the AEC community globally and examples of how to implement your own data collection process. Come to this session to learn about the relevance of big data in AEC and how it will be the currency of the future.
This session will go over:
– Where you can collect data from your project assets
– How to find meaningful knowledge out of that data
– How BIM models, Project management software, field equipment and devices are sources of data
– LIfe Cycle of data from design to concept into Fabrication and Construction
– Project Scales of data from rooms to entire cities
– Gathering, Analyzing and Reporting the data with readily available tools like Pandas and Spark
– Practical examples used on projects including data requests from owners and how they were delivered
The attendees will take away a broader understanding of data used in common business scenarios and how they can access it. The information is meant to provide direction on how anyone can get started with data collection and use it at their organization.
