Session 2.4
Structural Modeling with Revit and Advance Steel
Synopsis:
This session will dive into the interoperability, similarities and differences between Revit and Advance Steel. We will discuss workflows and techniques to streamline collaboration between these products and create the structural models of your dreams.
Learning Objectives:
1. Determine whether Advanced Steel or Revit is better suited for your structural conditions
2. Compare how complex steel connections, custom plates, bolts, and welds are created in Revit vs. Advance Steel
3. Identify opportunities for interoperability between Revit and Advance Steel
4. Examine the importance of LOD for structural steel design and fabrication
Body:
In this class we will explore the Level of Development (LOD) for Structural models and how to accomplish high level details using Revit and Advance Steel. The tools available in Revit are continuously growing and have many similarities to the tools in Advance Steel, but how do we use these products together to create detailed Structural models that accurately represent the condition. In this class we will compare the tools and identify strengths with each to help you most efficiently accomplish your design model goals.
We will use the interoperability between Revit and Advance steel to examine the workflows between the two and the differences in output. To help identify the differences, we will work with connections, plates, bolts, and welds to create complicated structural conditions.
