BILT ANZ 2019 Vision 20/20 Competition: The Immersive Future

Have you dreamed of taking to the main stage at BILT?  Vision 20/20 is your chance.  Introduced last year for the first time in ANZ, Vision 20/20 will be back this year at BILT in Melbourne.

In case you weren’t at last years BILT (or have forgotten…it was Saturday afternoon after all), Vision 20/20 is our Pecha Kucha style competition held on the main stage during the closing plenary.  Up to three entrants will get the change to strut their stuff on the main stage and compete for awesome prizes including attendance and accommodation to next year’s BILT, a fitbit Versa and UE Boom Speakers.

This year’s topic for you to explore is “The Immersive Future”.  While we talk about virtual and augmented reality a lot in the world of buildings, this is just one area where people might benefit or we might do things differently with VR/AR.  Think about entertainment, education, psychology, tourism and medicine?  What are the potential applications of VR and AR? Scour the internet or use your imagination.  Your talk can be funny, serious or downright scary – its all up to you.

The rules are simple, 20 slides with 20 seconds per slide for a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds.  To enter you don’t even need to put together a slide deck (but you can). To enter and share your vision of the immersive future, all you have to do is submit a short abstract describing your talk, a video, audio file or even your full slide deck. It’s up to you how much work you put into the initial entry – but if you are selected as one of our 3 finalists you will need to prepare 20 slides set to run for 20 seconds each and your talk to accompany them.  Your initial abstract will be sent to the committee to choose a finalist anonymously, so it will be based purely on the content presented.

Entries are open to all attendees of BILT ANZ 2019 with the submission site now open on our website.  Entries must be submitted by Monday 29 April with finalists to be notified by Wednesday 8 May.  Finalists must be prepared to present their Vision 20/20 on Saturday 25 May at BILT ANZ in Melbourne – you must be either already registered or confirm you will register for the conference in order to be considered a finalist.

COVID-19 Update

20th May 2020

DBEI has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation around the world. While some parts of our society are beginning to open in baby-steps, none of us know how the situation will develop over the coming months. As such, DBEI has now made the decision to postpone all our 2020 events to 2021 as the well-being of all our partners and participants in our events remains our utmost priority. For new details on each region please visit our event pages. We have also sent communications to all registered attendees, speakers or sponsors for all of our 2020 events.

In the interim, DBEI will be launching several exciting virtual events and webinars in 2020 to continue to deliver the same expertise, insights and knowledge to the AEC industry during these uncertain times. We also have some other exciting initiatives we are working on to continue to provide value to our community, which we look forward to sharing with you all shortly.
