BILT ANZ SCHOLARSHIPS – Are you Part-Time or between roles?

We are very pleased to announce an exciting new initiative being launched by BILT ANZ this week – the BILT Scholarships program!
We believe in the power of events to inspire, equip and connect people to think bigger and think differently about what is possible in our industry. As part of building a more diverse community we are offering scholarships for individuals from Australia or New Zealand to attend our BILT ANZ 2019 conference, where you can:
- Step out of your daily routines;
- Build new connections both within the region and beyond;
- Develop leadership skills;
- Be inspired to think bigger and think differently about their work, and;
- Contribute your voices and perspectives to national and international conversation.
We are aiming to make these opportunities available to a diverse array of people possible, across sectors and demographics. These scholarships are for people employed on a part-time or casual basis, on maternity leave, or not currently employed. You can apply yourself or you can nominate someone else from your team.
Last year, BILT ANZ hosted a panel to discuss gender diversity in our industry, and one of the points discussed at this panel event was if we want more women to attend, we need to create a bias disrupter. The committee have put much thought and discussion into this issue, and we don’t believe that an opposite bias of offering free or discounted passes specifically to women is the right approach.
We see a significant difference between the number of women who attend BILT in North America and BILZ ANZ. Looking at the industry differences between ANZ and NA, we believe that potentially one of the barriers preventing as many women attending BILT (and indeed possibly other conferences) in Australia and New Zealand is that many more women work part-time and employers are more likely to choose to send full time employees to conferences.
We have therefore decided to create a limited number of scholarships to provide more opportunity for part-time workers or those currently not working, which, based on correlation with the female gender will see more women able to attend. The scholarships program is open to everyone, regardless of gender – as part of the application process you need to provide evidence of your part-time employment status, maternity leave, or that you are not currently working.
Each scholarship includes complimentary registration for all three (3) days of BILT ANZ 2019 (which includes all social events). Flights and accommodation (if required) are not included – they are responsibility of the applicant / their employer. So for those who live in Melbourne – no excuse not to apply!
We also have introduced Scholarships for students this year – see our separate news post on it here!
Scholarship applications will close on 30 April 2019, with selected applicants to be advised by 7 May. Click here to apply or to find out more
