Sneak a peek into BILT Asia 2020
By Rexter Retana
Three weeks ago, the BILT Asia committee held a 3-day abstract selection workshop for our 2020 conference at Csuite offices in Singapore. We are pleased to have received an overwhelming response to our “call for abstracts”. Topics submitted ranged from Computational Design, Data Management, OpenBIM/Interoperability, AR/VR, Project Planning & Construction Management, Digital Twin, Machine Learning, etc.
It really was exciting to see all the different topics and projects that are currently in practice at the moment, including a few below that I am particularly looking forward to:
- Leveraging data to move beyond BIM – this class will talk about best practices to structure and create efficient data models as well as how to start data-driven practice.
- Improve project schedule management with cloud-based connected solution – this class will talk about building a cloud-based application that utilizes data models to manage project progress using Forge platform.
- ROI strategies in BIM for FM. What gets measured gets accomplished. – this class will discuss measurable metrics and key performance indicators to help stay on track and measure progress towards defined goal as well as analyzing its financial impact to the organization.
- Security and Safety in the Digital and Physical Twins – this class will explore the accuracy and precision of digital twin to command and control the physical twin. It will also discuss the use of cryptography to bootstrap security and safety of the digital and physical twins.
In totality, the quality of the submissions we received were top rated; hence, the committee’s rigorous selection process took more time than the usual – nonetheless, it was a pleasurable experience at these offices in Singapore.
To those abstracts who have been accepted, well done and congratulations. Let the real work begin – we have high expectations of you!
To those abstracts that didn’t get accepted, on behalf of the BILT Asia Committee, we really do thank you for your submission and appreciate the time that was taken to submit your topics. We received a high level of submissions, and unfortunately only have a select number of class spots available, therefore, I would encourage you to submit the same topic to other BILT conferences in North America and Europe – the call for abstracts for these open soon!
