Magnus Romoen
NGI
Section head
Magnus Rømoen has a master’s in geotechnical engineering from NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. He has been working at NGI (Norwegian Geotechnical Institute) since graduating in 2006 and has a wide experience in numerous building, road, railroad, and land reclamation projects.
Rømoen was head of the onshore foundations section at NGI between 2012 and 2020 before he became a BIM strategist at NGI with the responsibility for the further development of BIM. This is a job he now combines with his involvement in numerous geotechnical projects.
Together with his colleague Mats Kahlström, Rømoen has initiated the technical committee “”Geotechnical BIM and Digital Twins”” in the International Society for Geotechnical Engineering and Soil Mechanics (ISSMGE). Rømoen is the chair of the TC, which main goals are to increase the use and spread to a knowledge of BIM and DT within the geotechnical community.

BILT Europe 2022, Valencia | Spacemaker: The journey towards an outcome-based design environmentHallvard Nydal, Spacemaker
Synopsis:
In this class, we will explore the journey of Spacemaker and how we worked over the past years to build an outcome-based product for architects and other building professionals
BILT Europe 2022, Valencia | Going underground – modelling geology and geotechnical constructions for infrastructure projectsMagnus Romoen, NGI Nikolaj Hansen, Geovita ASPre-Design, Design, ConstructionBILTConstruction, InfrastructureOther VendorSynopsis:
Densification of the urban space drives more infrastructure projects below ground. By unleashing the power of parametric design in Grasshopper and dynamic 3D modelling for geology in Leapfrog Works, we have in recent years redefined how we plan, design and execute large-scale infrastructure projects.
