Melissa Thiessens

Design Technology Specialist

Melissa has been working in the building and design industry for over 18 years and is now a Design Technology Specialist at Parallax Team where she works with design and construction teams to implement and/or supplement their Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Practice Technology strategies. In her previous position as BIM Manager at GSBS Architects, she gained valuable experience in leading a firm-wide implementation of new design technology and worked on projects ranging from higher education and commercial to hospitality and justice.
Melissa is well-connected in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, both locally and globally, having attended and presented at numerous industry conferences. There she has developed and maintained relationships with varied industry professionals from major architecture and engineering firms, contractors, and software vendors. She believes that fostering good relationships with varied team members enhances everyone’s ability to perform more effectively throughout the life of a project.
Melissa’s passion for her industry has led her to becoming an Autodesk Certified Instructor while teaching Revit courses at Salt Lake Community College and University of Utah. She has also been a speaker at industry events such as RTC/BILT, Autodesk University, and local user groups, and has been invited to participate in multiple Autodesk Inside the Factory events in both North America and China. Locally she sits on college program advisory committees as well as supporting the Wasatch Front Revit User Group and a BIM Manager Roundtable Group. In her spare time, she serves on the Building Content Summit (BCS) Committee and is a Co-Host of the Simply Complex VR/ Gaming Podcast.
