ISO 19650 – What you need to know to get certified
Synopsis: This session will provide an overview of ISO 19650, why it was introduced, what are some common misconceptions and how Newforma can help.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand what ISO 19650 is.
2. Understand why ISO 19650 was introduced.
3. Be aware of some of the common misconceptions around ISO 19650.
4. Learn how to use a project information management tool such as Newforma to assist with adhering to ISO 19650.
Body:
ISO 19650 is an international standard for managing information over the life cycle of a built asset using BIM. Over the past few years organizations around the world have started to adopt the standard within their business.
The standard is organized into 5 parts as listed below:
ISO 19650-1: Concepts and principles.
ISO 19650-2: Delivery phase of the assets.
ISO 19650-3: Operational phase of the assets.
ISO 19650-4: Effective exchange of information between parties
ISO 19650-5: Security-minded approach to information management
This session will look at the history behind ISO 19650, the need for ISO 19650 and how project information management tools can help with the adoption of the standard within an organization.
There have been significant efforts by the BIM community to introduce the standard to organizations in Australia – this session will highlight those efforts and experts within the community.
