Session 3.3
The evolution of Digital Engineering – from ISO 19650 through to AS 7739
Synopsis:
“AS 7739 Digital Engineering for Rail” is a series of new Australian Standards that will be formally released throughout 2022, starting with Part 1 (which is currently out for public consultation). These standards will define the business capabilities and technical requirements necessary to support DE over the complete asset lifecycle.
Body:
“AS 7739 Digital Engineering for Rail” is a series of new Australian Standards that will be formally released throughout 2022, starting with Part 1 (which is currently out for public consultation). These standards will define the business capabilities and technical requirements necessary to support DE over the complete asset lifecycle. The concepts in AS 7739 extend well beyond “BIM according to ISO 19650”, by diving deep into the world of data modelling, data specification and effective data management – that together will drive industry wide digital transformation. This presentation will explain the background for developing AS 7739, the current objectives and solutions defined in this initiative, and the future plans for this exciting new approach. This presentation will explain how the DE solutions detailed in AS 7739 are universally relevant for other sectors beyond rail, and present significant opportunities for digital transformation of the wider built environment.
