Session 3.3
Coordination Workflows – Comparing ACC Model Coordination and Revizto
Synopsis:
Coordinating models of building systems is a complex task. It requires a platform in which to compile, view, and clash models. It requires issue tracking, communication, and integration with other processes. In this session, two VDC coordinators will compare the ACC’s Model Coordination to Revizto, based on real project experience.
Learning Objectives:
1. Compare model compilation processes.
2. Identify strengths in different coordination platforms.
3. Examine methods for issue tracking.
4. Evaluate company needs in coordination platforms.
Body:
Historically, Navisworks has been identified as an industry standard for model coordination. However, in recent years, development in Navisworks has dwindled, while development in the coordination workflows of Revizto and the tools in the unified Autodesk Construction Cloud have gained traction. These developments now provide users the opportunity to evaluate several options for model coordination.
The session will provide users a comparison of the tools and workflows in Revizto and ACC Model Coordination from the perspective of a General Contractor. The two speakers have each focused on one of these tools in their project work. The session will evaluate different aspects of the tools, including ease of compiling models from authoring tools, clash detection processes, issue tracking, communication methods, model navigation, user interface, integration with existing systems, and training requirements. The session will include examples from projects to show real-world applications of these concepts.
Differences in project types, market sectors, geographic regions, and company policies can all play a factor in determining the most suitable platform for model coordination. It is not the goal of the session to present a clear cut “winner” for model coordination, but rather to provide attendees information that they can use in their own decision-making process.
