Announcing winners of the inaugural BILT scholarships program
Every year we try to come up with ways to make BILT better than ever. We also try to come up with ways to attract a diverse range of delegates. This year, one of our particular focuses was how to attract more women and increase diversity. Our scholarships program was developed as a way to influence and increase diversity as well as promoting flexibility and fostering future talent in our industry.
This year for the first time (of any BILT event), we announced a scholarships program which encompassed two different types of scholarships – both providing full three day registration valued at over $2000! The first was three scholarships funded by DBEI/BILT and is for people who work part time, were on maternity or paternity leave or a career break. The second was two scholarships sponsored by Autodesk User Group International (AUGI) for full time students.
And the winners are…
Part Time Scholarships
- Alexandra Dickson, Buchan Group
- Lydia Angus, Wood and Grieve
- Sebastian Monroe, Code Architecture
Student Scholarships
- Oskar Casasayas, Deakin University
- Razieh Tavallaei, Macquarie University
We congratulate the winners and commend everyone who took the time to enter. We asked applicants to answer just three questions in 200 words or less. Why do you want to attend BILT ANZ 2019? Why will attending BILT help you achieve your professional goals? How will you share what you learned at BILT with your peers/colleagues/industry? We enjoyed reading all the applications.
In particular, the quality of the applicants for the part time scholarships was outstanding and we wish we could welcome you all. We encourage you to apply again and in the meantime to look for opportunities such as local BIM Groups to become involved and learn more.
We are looking forward to scholarships becoming an ongoing part of DBEI’s commitment to the future of our industry promoting diversity, flexibility and opportunity for those who may not otherwise be able to attend.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Todd Battley and AECOM, who also sponsored five scholarship places to provide more opportunities for women to attend BILT ANZ in 2019.
