Synopsis:

The presentation will demonstrate the cloud-based model and data integration platform which Jacobs Digital Delivery team has successfully developed. The integration solution is utilizing Autodesk Forge API and Microsoft Power Platform to help reach the enterprise users and accelerate the digital transformation.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain the challenges of team collaboration and stakeholder engagement when using cloud-based system such as MS Teams and BIM 360.
2. Explain the solution architecture of how we enable the integration with the help from Forge API and Microsoft Power Platform.
3. Identify the key functions from Jacobs Sift platform, the technology stack, and some sample solutions.

Body:

“For the last couple of years during the pandemic, Jacobs’s Digital Delivery team in Australia have been aware of the increasing challenges from remote project collaboration and stakeholder engagement. We have successfully developed a platform named Jacobs Sift built on top of Forge API, Microsoft Power Platform and Azure services to help accelerate our internal Digital Transformation.

Sift democratizes BIM data by helping design teams to better consume and understand design information from BIM models. Sift bridges the gap between specialized BIM software and the end users, making information stored in the BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud easily accessible through widely used enterprise-level infrastructure like Microsoft 365. This approach not only helps to reduce the risk of business disruption when introducing new but immature technologies, but also helps to effectively deliver accurate design information in an easy to access, secure and familiar environment like Power BI.

Through Jacobs Sift, we have effectively removed the coding requirement for our platform users and significantly lowered the threshold for adoption and operation of BIM technologies, making BIM data more accessible and actionable.

From this presentation, you will discover how we architected Sift. We will show you how this platform allows us to manage users, BIM data access and cloud services in a single solution through several use cases, including model information validation and IoT integration.”
