Session 3.3
Revit And OpenBIM
Synopsis:
A masterclass on best practise in Revit for collaboration with others using openBIM. This will focus on IFC (Industry Foundation Classes). Learn more about configuring IFC export, and how to resolve import and export issues.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the configuration options for authoring IFC from Revit and suggested best practise
2. Learn about improving efficiency in Revit when authoring or receiving IFC files
3. Learn about latest improvements from Autodesk and obtain insights in further improvements that should be requested.
Body:
When using Revit as your primary BIM application, it’s often been frustrating to collaborate with others on a project when they are using alternatives.
IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) provides a data model to facilitate interoperability and model exchange, but it’s also provided lots of frustration.
This masterclass will provide insights into best practices for importing/exporting IFC, including:
• Configuration options for authoring IFC from Revit.
• How to improve the efficiency of resultant files (file size and processing time).
• How to achieve Information Requirements for project/client specifications
• The different versions of IFC and model view definitions, which should be used
• Learn about recent improvements from Autodesk, and other improvements you should seek
