Scott Beazley
Geometry Gym
Open BIM Consultant
Scott Beazley is an architect by background and works as an Open BIM consultant at Geometry Gym in IFC implementations and workflows.
He also works for Mitchell Brandtman’s 5D Digital Technologies Manager, applying his knowledge of Revit, ArchiCAD and Solibri Model Checker to check and validate models received from other consultants for quantification by Quantity Surveyors. This involves the interrogation of model structure, model objects and their properties to suit project requirements.
Scott has presented at RTCBILT in Australia, Asia, North America and Europe. He had been a member of buildingSMART for over 12 years, has taught CAD and BIM in technical colleges and universities, and is a SydBIM committee member. He is an Honorary Senior Fellow at the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre at the University of Wollongong and a part-time lecturer. He is also a part-time lecturer at UNSW.

BILT ANZ 2020 | Practical BIM techniques for Contractors to quantify for 4D scheduling and 5D costingScott Beazley, Geometry GymDesign, ConstructionBILTProject Controls, Simulation and AnalysisAutodesk, Open Source
Synopsis:
Builders sometimes receive models as part of bid submission and have very tight time-frames for using them to quantify for scheduling and costing.
Techniques will be presented and investigated to extract information quickly from models and test their quality.
Navisworks, ASTA Powerproject, RhinoGrasshopper and Solibri Model Checker will be used.Scott Beazley, Geometry GymSynopsis: Builders sometimes receive models as part of bid submission and have very tight time-frames for using them to quantify for scheduling and costing.

Navisworks, ASTA Powerproject, RhinoGrasshopper and Solibri Model Checker will be used.Learning Objectives: 1. ‘- Learn what information that can be quickly extracted from models for 4D construction scheduling and 5D costing.
2. ‘- Learn a range of model checking techniques for construction models
3. ‘- Learn how to link and update 4D & 5D information during the construction phaseBody: Case studies from current projects will be used to demonstrate:
– How to quickly deal with models you get from someone else that you have little or no influence upon. Quantities take-off techniques from Revit schedules for different project phases and level of detail.
– Workflows for testing quality of quantities and reporting objects by level, for detailed trade sub-contracts.
– Common modelling issues to watch for? Which Revit Categories are likely to create problems.
– Differences of Design vs. Construction models. Adding parameters for construction scheduling: Task_ID, Status, LocationZone, to enable cashflow predications and model updates reporting actual cashflow.
– Linking models to construction scheduling using Navisworks and ASTA Powerproject, based on Task-ID sets.
– Solibri Rulesets for project phases, and model visualization will be controlled by Task-ID or by date, for site verification of work progress.
– Creating semi-automated construction schedules using RhinoGrasshopper from RevitIFC modelsSynopsis:
