Maarten van den Berg
Infranea
BIM Manager
Maarten van den Berg is a BIM and Information Manager at iNFRANEA with a master’s degree in Construction Engineering & Management. Making design, engineering, construction, and maintenance easier with user-friendly ICT tools motivates him to implement new working methods in construction projects. He implements Building Information Management and Systems Engineering in an integrated Model Based Systems Engineering approach. He and his team use the BIM learning curves in infrastructure and utility building projects for new virtual construction applications. Project teams use VR for virtual construction, testing, maintenance, and safety analysis. The need for information in a project team is the key driver for iNFRANEA’s risk-driven information management approach and VR simulation products.

BILT Europe 2022, Valencia | Automated engineering strategies for immersed tunnelsMaarten van den Berg, Infranea Elisa Martin Castillo, InfraneaDesign, ConstructionBILTInfrastructure, Model ManagementAutodesk
Synopsis:
Immersed tunnels require an integrated engineering approach for roads, structures, technical installations, and the immersed construction method. New software such as dynamo civil connection offers the engineer the opportunity to push the road design to the structural design. This approach makes the engineering process adaptive and allows changes without having a completely revised model.
BILT Europe 2022, Valencia | Queen’s Wharf precinct development: an OpenBIM journey on the client sideGabor Gulyas, DBM VirconBILT Europe 2022, Valencia | Virtual validation of complex infrastructure using VR driving based on UnityOperations and Maintenance, Design, ConstructionBILTBusiness Strategy and Leadership, Interoperability/OpenBIM/ CollaborationNon Vendor SpecificSynopsis:
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane is arguably the largest OpenBIM project in Australia currently. It has won BuildingSMART’s OpenBIM Award in 2019. With the design phase of the scope of the main works wrapped up, and construction nearing completion, we can draw some conclusions and share some lessons learnt. This presentation focuses on the OpenBIM / cross-platform integration aspects, challenges, solutions and lessons learnt.

How could they possibly think that this design was a clever idea”. Almost every driver knows that thought. Using VR Driving Simulators every engineer can immersively experience the proposed design through the eyes of future drivers. This will result in a better understanding of human behaviour during the design process.
